Courses with numbers 185-186 or 285-286 are designated as Independent Studies in a specific discipline. These courses allow the advanced student to engage in intensive study or research of a given topic under the individual direction of a qualified instructor or faculty member. One credit hour is awarded for each two hours of contracted independent study per week per semester. With the approval of the Vice President of Instruction or Associate Dean, a limit of three credits in Independent Studies may count toward the A.A., A.S., or A.G.S. degrees as elective credit. Enrollment in an Independent Studies course requires the approval of the MCC Vice President of Instruction or Associate Dean.
